Keel and Mothman

by John Keel

I was pushed into the flying-saucer fracas in 1966 by a Playboy editor who wanted a “definitive” article on the subject. The first logical step was to seek

out experts. I quickly discovered there weren’t any. There were people who called themselves experts, all wallowing in egocentric delusions of self-importance, all feuding with their fellow experts. Paranoia was rampant in the field and every teenager and little old lady in tennis shoes involved in UFO hunting was convinced the government, and particularly the Air Force and CIA, was spending millions to mess up their personal mail and telephones. There was a big overlap, too, of wild-eyed right-wingers, and many of the more bizarre beliefs of the John Birch Society and even the KKK were absorbed into the UFO lore.

A few UFO books, mostly in the crackpot category, had been published in the 1950s, but copies of them were now almost impossible to locate. (The average UFO book sells about 3,000 copies, even today—a pathetically small number when you consider how much publicity UFOs have received.) Ivan Sanderson, zoologist, author and well-known TV personality, had a library of some of the better books. He lived on a farm in the wilds of northern New Jersey. A charismatic Briton usually surrounded by hordes of visitors, Ivan had single-handedly introduced the subject of the Abominable Snowman and Bigfoot to the American public. We met originally because I had once tracked the elusive Abominable Snowman in the Himalayas and Ivan was preparing to write a massive book on those hairy horrors. He was also a longtime observer of the UFO scene and at the beginning of my quest he gave me the best advice I would receive. “Don’t take this flying saucer business too seriously,” he warned me. “Just think of the whole thing as an intellectual exercise.” Read the rest of this entry »

PART 2: Mystical Adventures in Egypt and Karnak with Sekhmet

Posted by Lauren Thyme On August - 19 - 2012

You may have already read my first article on Mystical Adventures in Egypt and Dendera.  Here’s a continuation of my three visits to the country I love most in the world.

Our metaphysical tour group was scheduled to go to Karnak¹, an immense temple complex covering many acres, built and added to over many centuries.  A buzz went around our group when Mohammed Nazmy, owner of Quest Travel, announced that our group would be having a private showing inside the Ptah Sanctuary, including a very-famous statue of Sekhmet. Election 2012– Vedic Astrological Perspective

Posted by staff On August - 15 - 2012

by Lakshmi Parthasarathy

The Presidential Horoscopes are analyzed according to the Vedic System of Astrology, and its branch of Vimshothri Dasa system, which is popular and astronomically correct and precise. Accorrding to the Dasa system, the span of life is 120 years and is divided into 9 planets, plus Rahu and Kethu, the shadowy planets. To determine the Ascendant and Dasa, the Birth Place, the Time of Birth, and the position of the Moon is very important. There are 27 Constellation or Stars assigned to the 12 houses.

Each Star covers 130 20’ of the Zodiac totaling 3600 for the 12 Houses. By determining the Birth Star and Moon’s position, the Dasa period can be calculated; and the astrologer starts to analyze the future. For the Readers sake, astrological terms are necessary to give predictions with reason. Coming to the Election results, the way to choose a President astrologically is something like choosing the marriage partner for better or worse; namely, match the Presidential candidate’s horoscope with the natal chart of the U.S. Each candidate has his planetary strong/weak points compatible or not to U.S., and let us analyze the proposal of the U.S. chart. My “Position Statement” on UFOs

Posted by Robert Goerman On August - 1 - 2012

I was recently asked to submit my “position statement” about UFOs for an upcoming book. Here is what I decided upon and submitted. Comments?

It is my current opinion that extreme close encounters with certain so-called “UFOs” and “UFOnauts” pose a reasonable danger to the witness. This threat might come in the form of “abduction” and altered memory; physical burns, temporary paralysis or worse from exposure to detrimental radiation; distortions in time or reality during the encounter; and psychical or psychological aftermath following the incident. Never approach a “UFO.”

The witness should safely photograph or video document the “UFO” sighting.
