We didn’t want it to end! The 20th annual International UFO Congress and Film Festival (IUFOC) moved to Phoenix this year (February 23-27) under the new direction of Open Minds Production, LLC, and it was a spectacular event, attended by more than 1500 persons and media from all over the world. Phyllis Galde and I were on hand to represent FATE and give media interviews. The presentations were excellent, the networking was fabulous, and the setting – the Radisson resort and casino in Fountain Hills just outside of town – was elegant. In all, this year’s IUFOC was one of the most outstanding conferences we’ve attended in years.
We were especially appreciative of Alejandro Rojas, the co-coordinator of the conference, as well as the editor of Open Minds magazine and the host of their television show. Rojas served as emcee for the event and all-around point person for every imaginable inquiry. “It was the largest and one of the best conferences ever for the Congress,” Rojas told us after the closing of events. “It was a challenge to meet expectations, and I think we exceeded them. We are happy to carry on the tradition of the Browns,” he said, referring to Congress co-founder Bob Brown and his late wife, Teri, who started the event along with Wendelle Stevens in 1991 in Laughlin, Nevada.
In our years of being on the scene at UFO events, we’ve observed how the media can often be flip and dismissive in its coverage. The media attention was high this year, and Rojas observed that the great majority of journalists were serious in their coverage.
Open Minds Production, based in Tempe, Arizona, describes itself as “a research-based organization with a mission to investigate and report evidence of extra-terrestrial, UFO, and other phenomena to a global audience.” The ongoing mission, said Rojas, is “getting news and information out to the public. Ufology is an ever-evolving and busy field.”
Visit the Open Minds site at www.openminds.tv, and we recommend subscribing to their magazine, Open Minds – in addition to FATE, of course! Between the two, you have every base in the paranormal covered.
We enjoyed the entire program, and for this roundup, we’ve selected several individuals who captured our attention:
- Richard M. Dolan
- John B. Alexander, Ph.D.
- Stan Romanek and G.W. Hardin
- Kim Carlsberg
Richard M. Dolan: Life After Disclosure
Richard Dolan is one of our long-standing favorites, a superb researcher and ufology historian, and an excellent presenter. His new book “After Disclosure: The People’s Guide to Life After Contact,” co-authored with journalist and screenwriter Bryce Zabel (“Dark Skies”), continues his work into the roles of governments, the military and “the establishment” in controlling information about ETs, UFOs and contact (“UFOs and the National Security State: The Cover-Up Exposed, 1973-1991”).
“After Disclosure” examines how disclosure might take place, and how life on this planet stands to change once we have irrefutable evidence of alien races. Dolan warned that we must prepare ourselves for a potentially chaotic aftermath.
“We have a situation of runaway secrecy with our government,” he said. “You only disclose when you have to. But disclosure will happen. It might be that a major sighting will occur in which we will record and communicate with aliens in a way that the major powers will not be able to deny.” Other ways to force disclosure include statements from major public figures, investigative journalism, and mass sightings.
Dolan presented a hypothetical “Event” and how it would unfold. Evidence of aliens would cause the media and the public to demand answers. The president of the United States would have to spin a statement to prevent public panic. “John Alexander says that there will be no major paradigm shift,” Dolan said. “I beg to differ. There are repercussions. We all know people who are not going to be good with this information. The president is going to have to be very careful about what he says.” The government “will want you to be afraid enough to follow authority but not to panic.” The president will not have all the answers himself, because he will be dependent upon briefings from the “black ops” interests who will tell him what they want him to know.
Pressure will mount from the public, media and scientific community for visual proof – a “show us the aliens” demand – but it probably will not be met. Rather, an acknowledgment may be made that aliens are among us or have visited us. Authorities will be pressured to explain why secrets have been kept, what technology the aliens possess and have passed on to us, why they have abducted humans, what they want with us, and, most importantly, will we be safe from them.
“Stalling, stalling, stalling will be the number one priority,” said Dolan. “Then the firestorm begins.”
One outcome might be a “breakaway civilization,” in which more secrecy and recovered alien technology might give controlling interests limitless wealth. There may be controversies and lawsuits over who should own the new technology and if or how it should be made available to the public. If new technology involves a replacement for oil, there could be serious economic tumult. “It’s not going to be beer and skittles for all of us,” he said. “When Big Oil loses, we will suffer. What if we suddenly don’t need it anymore? The entire global portfolio is connected to petroleum.”
Other possibilities include the establishment of a new world order, a global dictatorship, warfare between nations over technology rights, upheaval in religion, and the emergence of a new science. Private interests will be pitted against public interests.
Potential scenarios are not all dark. The book also discusses how tremendous benefits might result, such as technology that would revolutionize our health care, longevity, quality of life, education, and advancement of consciousness. “We will have choices in the new world order,” Dolan said. “We must retain our rights as free human beings.”
Whichever way it swings – and the aftermath will probably incorporate both benefits and problems – Dolan and Zabel predict a radically changed worldview.

John B. Alexander: The Search For Answers Concerning UFOs
We’ve been acquainted with John B. Alexander , Ph.D., for a good number of years, and were glad to catch up with him and talk about his new book, “UFOs: Myths, Conspiracies, and Realities.” In the UFO community, Alexander, a former Green Beret and retired U.S. Army colonel, is an intriguing figure, and opinions vary as to what he “really” knows.
The book, which features a foreword by Jacques F. Vallee, a commentary by Tom Clancy, and an introduction by Burt Rutan, is a report on the findings of the Advanced Theoretical Physics Project (ATP), a Top Secret-clearance group assembled by Alexander to explore controversies and topics related to UFOs. Alexander created the group in the 1980s while still on active duty in the Army. Its members came from the military, intelligence agencies and civilian aerospace defense contractors.
Trying to pin down facts proved to be much harder than anticipated, however. “When I put the group together, I assumed that an alien craft crashed at Roswell, that there was a deep black budget program, and that ‘somebody’ was minding the store,” Alexander said. While he and the group had access to high-level personnel, everyone seemed to think that someone else was responsible for the UFO issues.
“UFOs” traces Alexander’s journey through the rabbit warren maze of information, leads, dead ends and mysteries in his examination of UFOs from many angles. A few of his conclusions:
- Lieutenant Colonel Phillip Corso’s claims about alien bodies recovered at Roswell, back-engineered alien technology, and interspecies war: Demonstrably wrong.
- Majestic-12: Bogus documents. If such an organization existed, it had nothing to do with UFOs.
- Successful back-engineering of UFOs (called ARV), kept secret from the public: No credible evidence.
- The reality of UFOs: There are too many reports from high-credibility witnesses, and too much physical trace evidence, for skeptics to discount the existence of UFOs. However, there is no single, simple answer concerning UFOs, and much of it is probably beyond our comprehension.
One of the obstacles to understanding UFOs, as well as other paranormal phenomena, is that researchers often have a tunnel vision of a very narrow band of the spectrum, thus overlooking important connections and relationships among phenomena. “We tend to put things into boxes — it’s a UFO, a near-death experience, a ghost,” said Alexander. “I’ve been arguing for what I call the Step Back Process for some time. We need to pull back and do a macropattern analysis of all the things being reported, and see how they all fit together. We are asking the wrong questions, though I’m not sure what the right ones are.” The paranormal, including UFOs, is often fuzzy and hard to define, and defies “academically imposed stovepipe” explanations, he said.
Alexander added, “We need to make it acceptable for people such as scientists to study these things without risking their careers.” He noted that politicians are vulnerable, too. Those who mention the paranormal or UFOs are skewered and ridiculed by the media.
Whatever is going on in the big picture, our own consciousness is a component of it, Alexander said. And, it is interdimensional, and has an sentient, Trickster nature. He coined the term “precognitive sentient phenomena,” or PSP, which at least partially explains UFOs and other unusual sightings. “PSP is a spark of intelligence that knows in advance how you are going to respond to phenomena, and it acts and then reacts accordingly. It keeps changing the parameters every time you think you are getting close to the truth or an explanation.”
In all, UFOs constitute a prime example of another concept he has coined: Alexander’s Law of Appropriate Complexity. No matter where you are in life, every time you think you have everything nailed down and understood, you are thrust into a whole new order of complexity, and you must start at the bottom and work your way up. It’s another way for Trickster to operate, keeping answers, truth and solutions just out of reach.
As for disclosure, Alexander said that it has already happened, and had no impact on society. On April 4, 1950, President Harry S. Truman stated UFOs were real and not from Earth, a revelation that caused barely a ripple. Alexander does not think that further disclosure would have a significant disruptive effect on society. “If we have a sustained event, a 9-11 model is applicable,” he said, referring to the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center towers in New York City in 2001. “At first, there would be an intense interest and constant new coverage. But food, gas and consumer goods have to be delivered, and people have to get back to work. Eventually, disclosure would become another news story.”

Stan Romanek and G. W. Hardin: The Next Phase In Contact
For several decades, the UFO community and the general public have been hearing the stories of people who are abducted by alien beings intent on creating hybrid human-alien races. Abductees and ufologists have speculated on the reasons, with explanations ranging from saving sickly ETs to saving humanity from itself to creating a new breed of super beings.
Stan Romanek’s abduction experiences have fascinated us for years, standing out for the unusual video, photographic and audio evidence he has collected, which he presents in his first book “Messages: The World’s Most Documented Extraterrestrial Contact Story,” co-authored with J. Allen Danalek. Now Romanek has a new message, one that he says has been the underlying reason behind his abductions – and which stands to take humanity to new heights of consciousness and affect not only the planet, but the entire cosmos as well.
Romanek has teamed with G.W. Hardin, the bestselling author of books on angels, indigo children, healing and prophecy, to present his message in “Answers,” published in e-book format. The two received a standing ovation from a packed auditorium at the International UFO Congress and Film Festival on March 24, and we caught up with them for interviews.
Romanek said he has fathered nine hybrid children through surrogate Earth mothers, all of whom have been abducted themselves. Seven of the children were borne by a woman named Victoria, one with his own wife, Lisa, and one with a woman named Heidi. The male and female human genetic material was mixed with extraterrestrial genetic material. The hybrids, along with other hybrid children, are playing a major role in the unfolding of the next phase of contact, in which humans will learn their true genetic origins and history, their purpose of being on planet Earth, and the destiny they are to fulfill.
“We are at a crossroads, and we will not be able to remain here if we do not change – but we have to do it on our own,” Romanek said.
The ET genetic material comes from a race called the “Orions,” whose home is in the constellation Orion. The Orions are much more advanced than humans. In addition, there is an even more advanced race involved, who also figure prominently in “Answers.” The message of humanity’s destiny and cosmic role was revealed to Romanek by an Orion known as “Grandpa” during regressions conducted by Leo Sprinkle, PhD.
Humans are themselves hybrids, Romanek said. We are descended from a conglomeration of races. “We’re really a petrie dish,” he said. “The people we were designed by designed us for a purpose, and our purpose is to help affect the whole universe.”
“Answers” gives three secret keys to humanity’s destiny. One is that humans are alone in the entire cosmos in their ability to affect quantum reality without technology. In other words, we can use the power of mind, thought and intention to alter reality. Two is the role to be played by the hybrids. And three is the unveiling of humanity’s destiny, including information that even the “Galactics” did not know about us, but do now.
The book, said Hardin, “unearth’s some of the deepest questions that have plagued humanity for millennia — why we showed up on this planet and what that means for other star nations. The hybrid children are a whole new race, all products of Stan’s DNA. Stan is the vehicle to bring forth this story to give all of us the knowledge and ability to move this planet to a place that it’s never before been – and this is not far away.” Everyone, he said, “will have the opportunity to create an incredible world the likes of which we never dreamed were possible.”
The seeds of Romanek’s abduction odyssey began in 1968 at age five, when he was approached by a mysterious woman while he was outdoors playing. The woman had startling blue eyes. She held out her hand and in the palm was a floating blue marble. The woman appeared twice more at later times. In 2000, Romanek – who at the time was not particularly interested in UFOs or ETs – had his first sighting of a craft in the sky.
In 2001, he had his first abduction experience, which plunged him into a strange reality that shook his worldview. In 2002, he began regressions, and drew symbols that were unfamiliar to him, and were submitted to scientists for evaluation. He discovered two years later that he had produced the formula for element 115, which was undiscovered at the time. More symbols followed, produced in his sleep. Experts have disagreed over the meanings of the symbols, and even if they mean anything at all. Claude Swanson, PhD, a physicist, has stated that they concern how to use electromagnetism to warp space and time.
In the ensuing years, Romanek has had numerous abductions, mysterious ailments, miraculous healings, implants, unexplained markings and wounds, visits by shadow people, contact with angelics, and a host of other phenomena, including telepathic communication that literally seems like explosions of thoughts, concepts and images in his mind. Most visitors to his Colorado home experience something unusual; once a TV remote control floated in the air. He has captured video of strange moving orbs of light in and around his home and photographic images of alleged alien beings. He has received mysterious phone calls from an unknown female who calls him “Starseed,” and has been followed, harassed and monitored.
All of these events have caused Romanek to change dramatically on all levels of his being, he said. “It was hard enough for me to deal with the fact that UFOs are real, because I had my own idea of reality. To shake me off that ground I was on was very scary. I was terrified, but I am not anymore. I’m actually more afraid of the human element than the ET element.”
“People ask me if I would do it all over again, and I say yes, many times,” Romanek said. “I’ve learned exponentially and I get to look outside the box now. I know why I’m here, why I’m doing this, and what I’m supposed to do. And it’s marvelous!”

Kim Carlsberg: Personalizing Contact
Though not a presenter at this event, Kim Carlsberg, a professional photographer, attracted a great deal of attention with her new book “The Art of Close Encounters,” a beautifully illustrated collection of 150 compelling personal stories of alien contact experiences of all kinds, available exclusively at www.TheArtOfCloseEncounters.com. It features many ET experiences, and includes other kinds of contact as well – such as my own encounter with a fairy in Lydney, England, while visiting Roman ruins of a dream incubation temple. Fans of Carlsberg know her for her accounts of her own abduction experiences, chronicled in her book “Beyond My Wildest Dreams.” She is also the creator of “Contact Cards, An Extraterrestrial Divination System.”
“The Art of Close Encounters” enables people to tell in their own words about their contact experiences and how they interpreted and integrated them. The stories and the art that accompanies them – most provided by the contactees themselves – put a personal face on the significance of alien contact, and provide compelling evidence for the interactions between humans and other races, regardless of what the “authorities” have to say.
The inspiration for the book followed right on the heels of “Beyond My Wildest Dreams,” published in 1995. Carlsberg’s diary accounts were illustrated by her artist friend, Darryl Anka. The two discussed doing an illustrated book of other people’s experiences. Carlsberg collected a few, and then dropped out of the contactee/abductee community, in part because of the stress of her own experiences.
Fifteen years passed, and then she was re-inspired to complete the book. She found a significant change in attitude. Thanks to the Internet, increased news coverage of sightings, and proliferation of information and support, many people are now eager, not reluctant, to share their stories.
“It blew me away,” said Carlsberg, remembering earlier days where abductees and contactees kept themselves hidden. “However, there are still people who are stuck and afraid and can’t talk. This book will facilitate conversation. It’s going to open up people’s minds. I also wanted it to be for the general public, too. It’s a primer so anyone can grasp what’s going on. The book covers forensics, with the various ETS in the first chapter. The next chapter goes into the variety of ships, and the following chapters express the many types of encounters.”
Carlsberg went through years of severe experiences with at least nine different types of entities, including the grays. “They tortured my body, used me as a breeder and ruined my reproductive organs,” she said. “I had relationships with my hybrid children that were good, but I had to save my body. Everything stopped, including my connections to my hybrid children.”
She is no longer being abducted. “After publishing my first book, I figured out how to make the abductions stop. I knew how to do it all along, but the experience was so intriguing – even though it was terrible and horrifying — that I wanted to know everything I could, and then make it stop. It took me eight years to do that. I learned how to raise my vibration to a point where I became invisible to them.”
Carlsberg is contemplating trying to find her hybrid children now that so much time has passed. “I’m a senior citizen now and they don’t want my eggs anymore,” she said. “But I have to open back up to contact in order to find my children.”
She said she has established a page on Facebook – www.abductionfreezone.com – that offers her and others’ techniques for ending abduction and contact experiences. “Not all contact is negative by any means, but if you are having contact you do not prefer, you can make it stop!”
